Haftarah Trope

Building a reading

How to learn a verse:

  1. Read the Hebrew well.

  2. Read the trope symbols, by name, well.

  3. Sing the trope symbols, by name, well.

  4. When Hebrew and singing are solid, combine.

How to practice:

  1. Read/sing out loud.

  2. Repeat until smooth.

  3. Once smooth, do the next chunk.

  4. Every few verses/parts, repeat it all, to ensure you remember.

Group One is the basic phrases of a sentence:

  • Katon phrase – a basic phrase

  • Etnachta phrase – always one, in the middle (like a comma)

  • Silluk phrase – always one, end of sentence
